Indian Mythology mentions a Magical Tree called “KALPAVRIKSHA”. Ancient scriptures refer to A WISH FULFILLING Tree which was brought to Earth from  Heaven.

Each Part of The Coconut ( English) , Nariyal ( Hindi), Thenga (Tamil & Malayalam), Cocos nucifera ( Scientific Name) fulfills the needs and wishes of humanity.

Is it the revered “KALPAVRIKSHA” mentioned by the Ancient Indians??

Coconut Trees cover an  entire Island on the River Neyyar, Poovar, Kerala ( do see a previous blog title RIVER OF FLOWERS) .

The Flowers of the Coconut are considered Divine and even today they are the Core of Hindu Weddings in Kerala, India. Weddings Vows are taken with the Flowers of the Coconut ( replacing Fire in other parts of India)  as the Divine Witness.

Encased in a tough casing ( you they see the casing also in the picture below) they burst forth in Splendour. The Floral bouquet consists of both male and female flowers.

Do try and spot the flowers in PURE WHITE , they are Gorgeous as well.

I loved these relatively  rarer Orange Coconuts which I spotted across Southern Kerala, India .

A fellow blogger called them  “GOLDEN COCONUTS”.

I am more familiar with Green Coconuts, which are now available in New Delhi as well. What about your experiences, which colour of Coco “NUT” are you familiar with ?

I spotted these lovely  ones in the Mahindra Resort at Ashtamudi who Organize Numerous Activities related to these Marvelous Drupes ( not Nuts mind you) .

Coconuts are indeed an ALL GIVING tree . The Trunk is used for Construction, the Leaves For Thatched roofs and the Husk of the Indian Nut is used for all COIR products.

They belong to the Palm family, “Arecaceae”, a fact you can gauge from the pictures you see here.

The Faux Nut  commonly known as the COCONUT is a perfectly packaged ready to use combination of Healthy Food and a NOURISHING DRINK.

The Indian Nut or Coconut is in fact  , botanically speaking, not a True Nut.

Be Enchanted with the pictures and stop going Nuts over the Coconut. ( do read a previous blog titled ENCHANTING WORLD OF NUTS)
