As the “River of Flowers” meanders through  the Coastal Lands of the Southern Tip Of India, it creates a Wonderful Ecosystem and an Enchanting Habitat.
Mangrove Forests burst forth in the Estuary of the River Neyyar and constitute many a Wonderous species of Plants which survive in marshy lands much like Amphibians; half in water, half on land.
The Hanging Red Fruits of this Species hang decoratively over the Tranquil ( do read an earlier post titled TRANQUILITY and TRANQUIL MERGER) Â Waters of the River Neyyar in Poovar, Kerala, India,
As the tendrils of the  aerial stems  curl and swirl carrying the floral buds to the peaceful  waters of the River, you can spot an equally calm HERON casting a reflection in Tranquility.
“The Indian Pond Heron (English) , Ardeola grayii grayii (Scientific name) had me deceived as it was in breeding plumage.
The Dull Brown Robes had been transformed into shimmering multiple hues, the beak was greenish-Blue and the Legs were a Beautiful Red.”
“I had never seen the Indian Pond Heron in Breeding Plumage and had been thoroughly deceived into assuming that I had seen a new species of Heron.”
This was the primary reason I did not pen down the name or the scientific name before. Am thus reblogging this now, with all the additions in the text , post discovering the identify  in apostrophes.” (“)
The Heron, displays Infinite patience as it awaits silently, with hardly a scant movement, gingerly holding onto twigs which arch over the surface of the River.
The Cup like leafs in the foreground of the photograph are Water Hyacinths.
The Heron beat me hands down in patience and I did not wait to witness what this Enchanting Bird had for Lunch.
“It also took me on a Wild Heron Chase by donning a lovely new plumage to charm the Lady Heron.”
The shimmering subtle hues of the  “Breeding ” Plumage show up beautifully in the Featured Image.
So beautiful, thank you for sharing.

Is this a purple heron or just a pond heron , I wonder ? Saw one like this in Kumarakoram.

I thought it was a Pond heron, but the coloration rules it out. I have to do some homework GM.

herons and animals are blessed with intrinsic patience… unlike humans who need to cultivate patience…Guess the heron is not disturbed by his reflection either… unlike humans who give themselves closer inspection whenever they spot a reflection
I infer that your photographs are not only relaxing but also stimulating in nature… given my rather lengthy observation triggered spontaneously…
Keep your photographs coming…

we have too dear Mukul, but I don’t know are they same, I haven’t seen any of them around here. But they are living in different places of my country. My first Heron meeting was in UK, 🙂 near Devizes, and my excitement made him to fly away!!!!! I am always angry with myself for this. You are welcome and have a nice new week, Love, nia

We have Great Blue Herons here, along the Boise River. I love watching them do anything: fishing, flying overhead (as long as the don’t release their bowels above my head), or landing in the tippy tops of trees that don’t look like they could possible hold them. I have never seen them in mating plumage though. How unique. I wonder if Great Blues exhibit the same change in plumage. Nice captures!
