THE WHITE “AVATAR”

This blog is a Sequel to an earlier blog titled “FLORAL AVATARS”.

These Pristine Pure Lilly Whites were in sharp contrast to their cousins in Bright and colourful regalia.

The Petals are the Lemon coloured ones in the centre  with the trailing Spurs or Tails. The White Ones are in fact Sepals pretending to be Petals.

Behold the WHITE COLUMBINE ( English Name) or Aquilegia caerulea ( Scientific Name).

Is it any wonder they belong to the Buttercup Family.

ALL WHITE WITH A DASH OF LEMON

For some unknown reason the Indian Honey Bees preferred to pollinate the White Avatars and gave the coloured blooms a clean miss.

These Lovely and Unusual  Flowers are Native to the Rocky Mountains in America .

I love the trailing Spurs which end in a little Tear Drop in quite another colour.

why only white
The Dark Himalayan Bee prefers the All White Avatars

The leaves resemble a CloverLeaf , The Buds ,Lady Fingers and the Blossoms seem they are beings from Outer Space or the depths of the Ocean, yet the Honey Bees love them.

I understand the flowers have Markings which show up under UltraViolet Lights. These are to guide the pollinators ( like Bees) to land correctly so the pollen rubs onto them.

Do check on these “Avatars” ( blogs ) again as you will be Enchanted by the Tale as well.

Is it not Enchanting the State Flower of Colorado, USA has found home in the Himalayas, India. Learning Yoga, maybe?

  1. What beautiful flowers! And of course we must care for the bees which pollinate our flowers and plants and help to sustain the cycle of life.. x
