  3. Simply stunning. But my favorite capture is the monastery. Improbable as an idea. But there you have it. Can’t wait to hit the West coast of North America this coming August. Lots of mountain scenery there, too. And it’s about as far as I can afford to go, unfortunately. But I do have a neighbor who is from India, that is, Kerala, and he is always asking me to get on the plane to go and visit with him. He flies out at least a couple of times yearly. Maybe one day . . .

      1. Yes, I know. India is a huge country, comprising a variegated tapestry of topographies, climates, and peoples. Kerala would be but a very tiny sample of that variety and nothing like the region at hand.

  4. When I saw the title, ah my eyes, I read it, cats in rock:)… Yes I am crazy with cats, but it is same for this beautiful view too… The stones fascinated me. Who writes them on stones, monks, budist monks… I wished to touch them… I wished to breath there… Thank you, took me into these photographs, Love, nia

    1. ha ha, i know your love for rocks. the picture of stones with writing carved is a Prayer/ offering by common people . pic taken in a Buddhist Temple ( Stupa) which I have seen only in Ladakh.

  10. Wow, all of these are amazing, but the one with the cuneiform prayers excites me the most!

    I was blessed to take a tour of our ancient archives room at the library of the university I recently graduated from. It was filled with old bibles and cuneiform slabs, and also papyrus scrolls kept in sealed airtight containers.

    Perfect for a geeky person like me to adore.
