Weddings are a Celebration of Life and when Inspired by Nature they transform and become Enchanting.

India is Home to lively Parakeets which can be heard and seen across the country from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean.

Do read A BIT OF CUBA IN INDIA to know about the beautiful bush in the background in the picture below.

The Indian rose-ringed Parakeets ( English), Totta ( Hindi) , Psittacula krameri manillensis( Scientific Name) ) are Perched on rings of AUSPICIOUS MARIGOLDS ( do read the Blog by the same Title)  in a fascinating and colourful Wedding I attended in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

Splendidly Inspired by Nature is this Lovely Lady who was happy to pose for the Cameraman. Do not miss the little Birdie on the Top Left.

Noteworthy are the Images of Squirrels ( do check out THE ENCHANTING THIEF) on her colourful dress.

Larger than Life Parakeets swing from the endemic Indian Lilac ( English), Neem ( Hindi), Azadirichta indica ( Scientific Name) trees and form the Foreground to Lovely Yellow  Trumpet Flowers. ( more about them later)

Parrots ( as they are commonly though incorrectly called)  are considered extremely auspicious for Weddings and underline the deep sense of thought and symbolism in Hindu Mythology.

As per Hindu Mythology The Divine Parrot , Suka, is the vehicle of none other than Kamadev ( The God of Love).

Indeed appropriate for a Wedding as without the God Of Love what is the meaning of the Wedding and without Suka how will the God of Love  arrive ?

Enchanting is it not , to see  Parakeets Bloom in a BIG FAT INDIAN WEDDING.

  1. Great post. Congrats. You HV a rare quality of seeing things from the perspective of benign plant nature. There is one theory – it is the multi color forests nature that gave rise to polytheism while it’s absence in deserts monotheism.

  2. Greetings, Mukul! Your colorful images and subject matter really caught my eye. 🙂 In California, U.S.A. there are birds that remind me of your parakeets, called lorikeets. And the birds known here as parakeets are budgerigars, as they are known in the U.K. Fascinating world of customs, colors and beauty, we all share together. Cheers!

      1. I am blessed, indeed. The world wouldn’t be nearly the pleasant place it is without the variety of living creatures, landscapes and cultures we enjoy.
I appreciate the title and theme of your blog. Keep up the good work! 🙂
